Sisters of Sunderland continue to meet

The project has almost come to an end, however, one of the key outcomes from the project is the development of a women’s group, Sisters of Sunderland.

Women who took part in the project have developed a great friendship and affection for each other. They found the experience of taking part in the project highly inspiring and transformational. Sharing each other’s stories has been empowering and helped to remove isolation.

The group met on Wednesday, 9th July to formally come together as ‘Sisters of Sunderland’. They invited Esen Kaya, Curator, Customs House to give a short talk about her work. Esen is very pleased to see this development and has offered to work with the group to engage them in further activities offered by Customs House.

The Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens has offered use of their facilities to enable women to meet, share and learn from each other.

The second meeting will take place on Tuesday, 15th July, 10 am – 12 pm at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens.
